Kavvabis
Kavvabis is Australia’s first CBD-infused essential oil, made in partnership with The Dam (a South West tourism complex drawing 100,000 visitors a year) and sold through its beauty salon The Temple, alongside pharmacies and health stores. The category came with a trap. Hemp branding defaults to green and the leaf, and with no medical research behind the product, the packaging had to suggest its benefits without ever claiming them. The identity avoids both by building on breath rather than plant: a flowing ‘K’ drawn as an exhale, an expressive serif set against a clear sans, and a palette that abandons the industry’s green for deep amethyst and natural pearl. Textural patterns carry the same movement into embossing across the packaging, and blurred, grainy, duotoned long-exposure photography of native Australian plants ties the product to its place without a leaf in sight.
